Happy Fall y'all,
I know that my opening sounds so silly coming from me as I was only born in Texas. I didn't live there much as I was raised all over the USA as a military brat but being born in Texas makes me a Texan, right??? At least that's what I tell my family. While I may not usually talk with a southern drawl, at this time of the year I love saying "Y'all" as it rhymes with fall. :)
Anyhooo.....I have a quick update for today. I just had to share this super quick and easy fall card. I was inspired by the wind we have here in Eastern Idaho as it started
blowing again a few days ago. I kid you not we were at 93 degrees less
than a week ago and then out of nowhere BLAT!!! The early fall weather arrived and for 3 days
now the high temperature has been in the low 70's and today we will be
lucky if we get to 65 degrees for our high that's about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of the year.....okay, okay enough about the
weather, let's back to my card.... I made it using watercolor paper & one of my favorite stamp sets " Sheltering Trees" of course I added a twist...can you see it??? I used what I want to call a "gust of wind" stamp from the new Holiday Catalog stamp set " Star of Light." I love this new stamp set. The sentiments are absolutely beautiful. The stars are delicate & elegant. It has matching thinlits too. I can see myself using that stamp set for my Christmas cards this year and probably many other projects too. Now I did not come up with the "gust of wind" idea all by myself. I had seen another demonstrators card about 1 month ago and I thought at the time once fall arrives here it'll be great but right now it's 95 degrees out and I am enjoying my summer weather. I think that thinking about fall was just too far away for me at the time. Well I must have I forgot to pin it so I spent several hours yesterday trying to find it again, I wanted to give that demonstrator credit but alas I could not find it again. I know that mine doesn't look exactly like the other one but still I like to give other demonstrators credit when I use their idea as a starting point for mine. I decided to go ahead and entered it into a challenge over at my upline's Facebook group. Since it's a closed group I thought I'd share it with you today. As part of the challenge I had to use at least 3 of these colors: dapper denim, cajun craze, emerald envy, delightful dijon & early espresso in my entry. I used all 5 and I just adore how it turned out. I stamped the "gust of wind" into the center of the watercolor paper using delightful dijon and simply stamped the tree trunk using early espresso ink right on top of the wind stamp . I "stamped off" the stamp first on a scrap piece of paper so that it wasn't too dark for the watercolor look I wanted. I think it looks just right. I then inked up the larger leaf stamp in emerald envy and then "pounced" the stamp using markers with the other 3 colors. I then misted the stamp and then set it down on top of the branches. I then for the grass below the tree I took the grass stamp inked it up in delightful dijon, then stamped it off before I pounced it with emerald envy. I then misted that stamp and set it down below the tree. I stamped the sentiment in the lower left corner in dapper denim. I then stamped the small leaf stamp so that it looks as if they are being blown/falling out of the tree heading to the ground in several of the colors. I then attached a piece of the Moroccan Designer Series paper to a dapper denim card base that measured 8.5 x5.5, scored at 4.25 inches. Then using dimensionals I attached the piece of watercolor paper on top of the designer series paper. I just love it even without my usual bling. You'll find the list of products I used to complete the card below. I hope you like it too....
